Dancing in Harmony - Sculpture
A New Figurative Sculpture Inspired by Dance
Art is a conversation between the artist and the world around them. For me, this dialogue often begins with the human form—capturing movement, emotion, and the beauty of the body in motion. My latest sculpture, Dancing in Harmony, is a direct extension of this ongoing exploration.
The inspiration for this piece comes from a series of figurative paintings I created using London ink and a long rigger brush. The subject: a talented dancer who graciously spent hours in front of me, dancing as I worked to capture her movements. The result was a series of sensitive, dynamic images that celebrated the fluidity and grace of dance.
It was this sense of harmony between body and movement that inspired Dancing in Harmony. The challenge was to translate that fluidity into a three-dimensional sculpture.
